CNA Class Details
Paid Classes run 18 days and include 120 hours as follows: 9 days of classroom theory and lab work, 8 days of clinical experience followed by testing, and graduation.
- Classroom hours: Monday through Friday 8AM – 4:30PM
- Clinical hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM

What are CNA Duties and Responsibilities?
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Summary:
Provides direct care and support to residents with daily living activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Ensures residents’ comfort, hygiene, and safety while maintaining a clean environment.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with hygiene, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, and report changes.
- Support with meals, feeding, and mobility (ambulation, positioning, transfers).
- Help with personal items (dentures, glasses, hearing aids, etc.).
- Answer call bells, anticipate needs, and ensure resident comfort.
- Transport residents and assist with activities and restorative care.
- Participate in care planning and report changes in condition.
- Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and a clean, safe environment.
- Use electronic charting systems for documentation.
- Provide restorative support such as ROM, transfers, and adaptive equipment use.

The program is free. Attendees must be an employee of Wesbury or intend to become an employee of Wesbury upon registering.
- 40 Hours Classroom (9 Days of Theory)
- 25 Hours of Lab (hours are dispersed during the 9 theory days)
- 55 Hours of Clinical (Day 10-17)
- Day 18 will be for Testing and completion of Paperwork
- Day 19 (Graduation with receipt of Diplomas)

The Class size will include no more than 10 participants.

- 120 hours of classroom and clinical training prepares you for the PA State Nurse Aide Certification Exam.
- Training is held at Wesbury, so you’ll learn in a familiar setting with future coworkers.
- Wesbury pays for state exam vouchers ($135 value).
- Completing the course and passing the exam leads to a rewarding CNA career at Wesbury.
Total Hours: 40 hours classroom, 25 lab, 55 clinical

- CNA roles and responsibilities
- Communication and mental health
- Infection control and safety
- Resident rights, abuse prevention, and independence
- Nutrition, personal care, cognitive impairment
- Signs/symptoms, end-of-life care, restorative care
- Clean and safe environments
1.) Background Check
- PA Criminal History Record (within 1 year).
- FBI check if not a PA resident for the past 2 years (trainee pays for background checks).
2.) Physical Exam:
- Confirms you’re fit for CNA duties and free of communicable disease.
- Wesbury arranges and pays for this exam.
3.) TB Test: A 2-step test provided by Wesbury.
4.) Entrance Exam: Must read, write, and speak English.
5.) Uniform: Scrubs, sneakers, and a wristwatch (provided by you).
6.) Minimum Age: Must be 17 or older.
- Once you complete the class, you become a Nurse Aide Trainee (NAT) and can work under supervision.
- You must pass the PA State Exam within 120 days.
- Wesbury pays the $135 exam fee.
- You get three chances to pass.
After 120 days, you can no longer work as a NAT. Your pay rate will drop to $14.00. Wesbury will evaluate your situation to determine whether you can temporarily work as a PCA. Wesbury does not have permanent PCA positions.
