Wesbury maintains a strong relationship with the United Methodist Church, yet residents of all faiths are welcome to enjoy the Christian atmosphere of genuine care and concern that is a part of everyday life on our campus. Wesbury’s residents are served by an on-campus chaplain as well as a group of Pastoral Care volunteers who host frequent religious activities and provide numerous hours of counseling and spiritual support each year. Multi-denominational services are offered in our own chapels and many houses of worship in the Meadville area are available to our residents.
The Pastoral Care Team is pleased to assist you in whatever spiritual needs you may have. Like the other staff at Wesbury, we are here to serve you and your family. If you are in need of a pastor, we are here to help. The pastor of your home church is always welcome to continue providing the nurture and care you need while you are here, at Wesbury.

Pastoral Care Services
at Grace Rehabilitation and Health Center and Memory Support Center
A service of Christian Worship is held in Grace Rehabilitation and Health Center’s Barco Chapel on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Volunteers and staff are available to assist getting residents to worship. Please be sure to let nursing or the chaplain’s office know if you need assistance. The service from Barco Chapel is broadcast live throughout the Wesbury campus on Channel 950. A special worship service for Memory Support residents is held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
The Sunday worship service from Cribbs Residential Center’s McCracken Chapel is broadcast live on Channel 950 at 9:15 a.m. and is available view each week throughout the entire Wesbury community.
Pastoral Care Services
for Thoburn Village and Cribbs Residential Center
A service of Christian Worship is held in Cribbs Residential Center’s McCracken Chapel on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. The Worship Service from McCracken Chapel is broadcast live throughout the Wesbury campus on Channel 950.
The United Women in Faith meets the second Tuesday of each month. Christian women of all denominations are welcome.
Bible Study is held Thursday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the Cribbs Residential Center Activity Room.
Wesbury’s Choir sings and practices for special occasions such as Christmas and Holy Week. Announcements are made for such in Campus Connections and on the monthly Religious Calendar.
A monthly support group, Circle of Support, meets the third Monday of the month at 2:00 p.m. in the Activity Room at Cribbs Residential Center. This group provides support to residents who are experiencing change related to grief, adjust to physical health changes, or any other adjustments in life.
Catholic Services
Mass is held in Barco Chapel on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. and is broadcast campus wide on Wesbury’s channel 950.
Eucharistic Ministers visit and serve communion to all Catholic residents each Monday morning. For residents of Cribbs Residential Center, communion is served at Barco Chapel at 9:00 a.m. For Grace Rehabilitation and Health Center residents, communion is received in their rooms.

UMA and the Order of Good Shepherds
Today, over 400 health and welfare ministries in this country share a common religious heritage, related to the United Methodist Church. Many homes and hospitals around the world also share this heritage. The strength of this heritage is due to clergy and lay people alike who believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ requires them to help the sick, the orphaned children and the aged.
As a member organization of UMA, Wesbury employees can participate in the Order of Good Shepherds (OGS). The mission of OGS is to affirm the ministry of employees of United Methodist related organizations within UMA. While respecting multi-cultural and multi-faith traditions, OGS extends continuing support to individuals who exhibit Wesleyan values for physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of persons in their care.
In John 10:10-18 we are reminded of the parable of the Good Shepherd who cared for the security of the flock despite his own security. He is the Good Shepherd first, intent on his mission, surpassing the commitment of a hired hand.
The members of OGS are called upon to strengthen each other in faith. They nourish each other with their words and presence. Our attitude toward work is enriched when we feel that an honest day’s work goes beyond earning money or making a living; that it is a way to glorify God.
Order of Good Shepherds at Wesbury
OGS is a voluntary program aimed at bringing together and acknowledging those employees of Wesbury who understand their work here to be an extension of their faith and commitment to God and neighbors. The primary gathering of such individuals is known as a “Connexion Group.” Connexion Group meetings are called periodically to celebrate and affirm our work together by breaking bread at breakfast or noon time meals. OGS sponsored Bible Studies Groups are held to encourage all employees in their faith journey. The OGS Prayer Line is a way to lift up residents, staff and their families in prayer. An annual Induction Service is held to welcome new individuals into the Order.
OGS is encouraged and supported by the Administration of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
