On World Alzheimer’s Day (September 20), we recognize the millions of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage understanding, and highlight the importance of compassionate care and support for those living with memory loss.
At Wesbury, our commitment to Alzheimer’s and dementia care goes back more than 25 years. In 2000, Wesbury built the area’s first Memory Support Center, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of residents living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory impairments. Being there for individuals and families affected by memory loss has long been an important part of our mission, and that commitment continues today.
Support extends beyond the care provided on our campus. Wesbury partners with Meadville Medical Center to offer The Bridges Memory Support Group, providing an opportunity for individuals and families to gather, learn, share, and find support while navigating the challenges that can come with memory loss.
The Bridges meets the third Wednesday of each month from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the Lingo Dining Room at Cribbs Residential Center. Each month, facilitator Danielle Schmidt of Meadville Medical Center’s Community Health Center Behavioral Health presents a topic related to memory support and caregiving.
If you or someone you know could benefit from The Bridges Memory Support Group, we invite you to join us. To RSVP, email info@wesbury.com or call Melissa Porter at 814-332-9238.
On World Alzheimer’s Day, we are proud to recognize those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, the families and caregivers who walk alongside them, and the dedicated professionals who provide support and care every day. 💜
