Thanks to the dedication and leadership of Thoburn Village resident Robin Smith and the support of Wesbury residents and staff, Wesbury surpassed its NexTrex Recycling Challenge goal, collecting and recycling more than 1,300 pounds of plastic bags.
Robin played a key role in organizing, collecting, and weighing the materials throughout the initiative. She extends her sincere thanks to the Grounds, Purchasing, and Dietary Departments for their support in helping make this effort a success.
As a result of the community’s hard work, Wesbury has received a Trex bench made from recycled materials. The bench is now installed outside the Medical Arts Building along Wesley Way, where residents, staff, and visitors can enjoy it for years to come.
“This truly shows what we can accomplish when everyone works together,” Robin shared enthusiastically. “I’m so grateful for the support from across campus, it made all the difference.”
Robin is continuing the collection effort, as NexTrex offers ongoing monthly drawings for additional benches to communities that keep recycling plastic bags.
