This year’s National Nursing Home Week at Wesbury was an unforgettable celebration of heritage, memories, dreams, and togetherness. Our 2025 theme, “Tapestry of Life,” came alive through shared stories, joyful moments, and meaningful connections that honored each thread in the fabric of our community. Here’s a look back at the week that warmed our hearts and made us smile.
Day 1 – Kicking Off with Piggies & Root Beer Floats
We launched the week with pure joy as the Tree Family Piggies stopped by for a heartwarming visit. Residents loved every moment with these adorable animals, and the room was filled with laughter and light.
To sweeten the start, staff took a nostalgic trip “through the decades” with old-fashioned root beer floats — a perfect pairing of past memories and present fun!
Day 2 – Hot Dogs & the King of Rock ’n’ Roll
What’s a celebration without great food and even better music? Day 2 featured a hot dog feast that brought everyone together. The smiles continued as Elvis (aka Kurt Nova) made an unforgettable appearance! Residents swayed, sang, and danced as the King’s classic hits echoed throughout Wesbury.
Day 3 – Culture, Family, and Pretzels
The tapestry of life became even more vibrant as staff proudly wore clothing that represented their families and cultural heritage. It was a beautiful display of diversity, love, and tradition.
And the perfect salty treat to top it off? Delicious, warm Millstone Pretzels that brought everyone together in good taste and good company.
Day 4 – Popcorn, Music, and Perfect Pairs
The halls were filled with music and the scent of fresh popcorn as Day 4 brought fun, flavor, and a touch of fashion flair! Staff embraced the spirit of togetherness by “twinning” in matching outfits, bringing smiles and photo ops all around. It was a playful way to celebrate our bonds and sense of fun.
Day 5 – Childhood Dream Jobs Come to Life
We took a whimsical walk down memory lane as staff dressed up as their childhood dream jobs — from firefighters to astronauts and everything in between! Residents and staff alike enjoyed seeing the creativity and spirit on display.
It was also payday with a sweet surprise: 100 Grand candy bars — because everyone deserves to feel rich in laughter and appreciation!
Day 6 – Tie Dye and Togetherness
We wrapped up the week with a colorful burst of joy as everyone donned tie-dye to celebrate unity and individuality. Each swirl and splash of color was a symbol of the beautiful, diverse threads that make Wesbury so special.
