Care Cottages are Open and Accepting Residents!

Titusville Care Cottage
What is a Care Cottage?
In 2015, Wesbury opened its first Care Cottage. These private residential homes offer area seniors an alternative to living in a personal care facility. This concept was specially designed with lower-income seniors in mind who may not be able to afford a personal care home but can no longer live safely alone. However, it is also available for those who prefer this approach to care and can pay privately.
Care Cottages are private residential three-bedroom homes that offer a maximum of three residents housing, meals, assistance with daily tasks, and personal care services. Staffed twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, the cottages are fully furnished and offer a private room for each resident and a comfortable shared living space for enjoyment and daily activity. This wonderful option grew to include seven Care Cottages which are located in Crawford County with locations in Meadville, Titusville, and Cochranton.
How does it work?
Care Cottages are designed to provide safety and support to 3 residents who either qualify for 8 hours a day of funds for care through the Community HealthChoices or “CHC” Waiver Program or can pay privately. Together, the residents share the cost of the 24-hour caregivers. In addition, each resident pays an income-based monthly fee to cover room and board which never exceed the resident’s income and affordability.
Is it right for me?
Are you struggling to manage on your own? Do you need assistance with managing medications, daily tasks, and or personal care? Is the cost of a personal care apartment unaffordable for you? Do you prefer a residential home setting over a personal care apartment? These are all reasons to consider a Care Cottage. Cottage residents enjoy the comforts of prepared meals, housekeeping and laundry services, transportation to appointments, and social outings. Each resident has an individualized care plan that may include assistance with bathing, dressing, ambulation, and medication reminders. Residents are encouraged to participate in exercise, activities, and tasks around the cottage including meal preparation if they wish. Daily activities may include games, movies, bird watching, gardening, or simply relaxing in a peaceful setting. The cottages are smoke-free and have easy access from the garage into the house and outdoor communal space as well as spacious bathrooms and walk-in showers.
