As the American Empress transports guests through the rivers of the Pacific Northwest, the landscape transforms from a majestic wall of spruce and pine to rolling hills speckled with vineyards and cherry trees. These frontiers have called to explorers and adventurers of today for centuries. Here, the paths paved by Lewis and Clark chart through the timber and wild coastline, balanced by beautiful wine country and rich Native American history. Take in breathtaking gorges, waterfalls, and historic ports. Enjoy a pre-night hotel stay at the famous Davenport Hotel before embarking on the American Empress, our home for seven nights.

The American Empress will enchant you from the second you step on board. The largest Riverboat west of the Mississippi, the vessel boasts a collection of intricate artifacts dazzling her 221 guests with paintings, Native American art, and authentic Fabergé eggs. There are many amenities to experience such as the culinary delights at the Astoria Dining room, River Grille, and 24-hour room service or enjoy a cocktail in the Paddlewheel or Show Lounges. From lively performances to stimulating lectures, you will find a pastime on the ship that suits your passion. Complimentary hop on hop off excursions are included in each port. Premium excursions are also offered for a fee.

Wesbury travelers will relax in a deluxe 200 square foot double occupancy Category C. stateroom with a private veranda that overlooks stunning views. Here, you can open the doors and peacefully watch the river drift by.

Columbia and Snake Rivers Trip Itinerary

July 30 – Arrive in Spokane and check in at the historic Davenport Hotel. From here, you may view The Historic Davenport Autograph Collection of famous film stars, writers, and politicians, treat yourself to their traditional signature soft peanut brittle, indulge in a luxury spa service, take advantage of the indoor pool and fitness center, or stroll the city’s Riverfront Park.

July 31 – Spokane to Clarkston, WA: Enjoy free time this morning in Spokane or take a premium excursion including a tour of Bing Crosby’s home, scenic vistas, and historic sights. Later today, the bus transfer will transport you to Clarkston to board the ship!

August 1 – Clarkston, WA: Take a premium excursion Jet Boat ride through Hells Canyon or explore the county’s rich history of the Nez Perce people, their interactions with Lewis & Clark, the contributions of Chinese people to Lewiston, life on the local rivers, wine growing, and agriculture in the county.

August 2 – Richland, WA: Take a premium excursion to Red Mountain for a vine-to-wine experience or enjoy the included tour that celebrates the history of the Columbia River basin, the influence of the Northern Pacific Railroad, the growth of the area due to WWI and WWII, and stories of the Lewis and Clark expedition through the experiences of Sacagawea.

August 3 – The Dalles, OR: At the end of the Oregon Trail, The Dalles was the jumping-off spot for pioneers, soldiers, gold miners, gun-slingers, floozies, and scallywags. Here you can partake in a premium tour of the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum, take a plane ride, or journey to Maryhill Museum, and Jacob Williams Winery. The included tour offers the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, the oldest courthouse west of the Mississippi River, a walk through the evolution of light at the National Neon Sign Museum, and time to explore Fort Dalles.

August 4 – Stevenson, WA: Take a premium tour of Multnomah Falls, Vista House, and the old scenic highway or enjoy the included Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center and Bonneville Dam, then head downtown to visit antique shops, quaint stores, and beautiful, abundant gardens.

August 5 – Cruising! Relax, sip a cocktail, and take in the scenery as we cruise the Columbia River.

August 6 – Astoria, OR: Take the premium Lewis and Clark experience or enjoy the included selections. Stroll The Riverwalk, a paved walkway overlooking the Columbia River. Board the riverfront trolley (fee). View the Astoria-Megler Bridge, the largest continuous truss bridge in the United States. Visit the elegantly restored Victorian-era Flavel House, built as a retirement home for Columbia River bar pilot, Captain George Flavel. View the Astoria Column, a magnificent monument that stands 600 feet above sea level and gives the perfect view of Young’s Bay, the Coast Range, the Columbia River, and the Pacific Ocean. Take in Clatsop County history at the Heritage Museum and Columbia River Maritime Museum with over 30,000 artifacts.

August 7 – Portland, OR: Today our journey concludes. Indulge in a final onboard breakfast then disembark for our included airport transfers and flights home.


The cost for this wonderful all-inclusive trip is $5,198.00 per person. A deposit of $500/person is due at booking.

The final payment is due March 1, 2023. We will be departing on July 30th and returning on August 7th.
