October Volunteer of the Month – Elaine Reyer

Congratulations to our October Volunteer of the Month, Elaine Reyer. Elaine was born and raised in Tarentum, PA. She met her husband, Ron, in high school when he managed Glen’s Frozen Custard (the original Hank’s). They married and lived in Zelienople for 24 years where they raised their three children. They now are grandparents to seven grandchildren. A job opportunity for Ron led them north where they have called Meadville home for 34 years, eventually moving to Wesbury in August of 2018.

Elaine started taking piano lessons when she was six years old. Elaine says her mom would give her the occasional “shove” to keep practicing. Music has been very meaningful to Elaine throughout her life. She took organ lessons in college and volunteered as an organist for her home church. She would later be a member of Stone Church Carillon Bell and Chapel Choirs. After moving to Wesbury, Elaine became a volunteer when she was asked to be a hostess at Thoburn Village Clubhouse and then again when asked by Rev. Sam to play for Wednesday chapel services and occasional Sunday services, even though she felt she wasn’t “good enough.” Elaine is happy to bring the joy of music to Wesbury residents and loves to hear them sing the old church hymns with enthusiasm. As long as she is able, Elaine will continue to use her God-given talents for Wesbury residents.
