Learn About Wesbury’s Registered Dietitian/Clinical Nutrition Manager, Lynette Olson and How She Promotes Dietary Health and Wellness to Residents and Staff
March is National Nutrition Month, an annual nutrition education and information campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day is also celebrated during National Nutrition Month on the second Wednesday in March, today, Wednesday, March 13th. This occasion increases awareness of registered dietitian nutritionists as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services while recognizing both RDNs and nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.
Lynette Olson is the Sodexo/Wesbury-Grace Rehabilitation and Health Center Dietary Management team’s Registered Dietitian/Clinical Nutrition Manager. Lynette is a graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Nutrition. She has a history with Wesbury as she worked as a Certified Nursing Aide back in 1994 and 1995 while attending college. She performed her dietetic internship at Wesbury in 1996 with Mrs. Jo Myers, the Food Service Director at the time. Lynette worked in Deland, FL at Memorial Hospital as a clinical dietitian from 1997 until 2000 before coming back to Meadville and working as a dietitian at Meadville Medical Center from 2000 to 2014. She joined the Sodexo/Wesbury team in 2018.
At Wesbury, Lynette is responsible for clinical nutritional assessments and nutritional care planning for every resident that comes to Grace Rehabilitation and Health Center. She reassesses every 90 days to look for significant changes to a residents plan. She looks for weight loss and gains. Lynnette also gathers resident food preferences and provides directions to the dietary office.
Additionally, Lynette promotes healthy eating throughout the Wesbury community through educational seminars. For National Nutrition Month, she is holding a free “lunch and learn” session to all Wesbury staff on plant-based nutrition.
In celebration of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, Wesbury wishes to recognize and thank Lynette for all she does in promoting dietary health and wellness throughout the Wesbury community.
